South African non-profit organisation Hear My Voice, in partnership with Swedish organisation Göteborgs Litteraturhus (Gothenburg House of Literature), invites Swedish poets and writers to apply for a two-week writing residency taking place in South Africa between 10 and 24 March 2022.
The opportunity provides Swedish writers with an all-expenses-paid trip to South Africa to perform, share work, engage in conversations, facilitate workshops and develop work relating to the impact of writing, poetry and cross-cultural exchanges. Selected applications will receive financial support towards flights, accommodation, stipends and other travel-related costs, as well as an engagement fee for a public engagement arranged during the residency. The residency takes place in Tshwane and Johannesburg.
Applicants are expected to submit their concrete idea for a project they want to include as part of the residency and work on during their time in South Africa. Additionally, submissions will have to include a context-related motivation, as well as a convincing professional track record.
