About Hear My Voice

Hear My Voice is a non-profit organization based in the City of Tshwane, South Africa. Our focus is developing spoken word artists as well as creating open and uncensored platforms for self expression through spoken word poetry. We achieve this through organizing local and international exchange programs, workshops, live spoken word shows, open mics and other literature programs for schools, private companies, government, libraries, festivals and other cultural institutions.

Hear My Voice works with government, private institutions and cultural institutions to facilitate exchange programs locally and internationally. through these exchanges we facilitate the exchange of knowledge, best practices and networks across various cultures and nationalities.

Hear My Voice provides multiple open and uncensored spaces for youth to express themselves and speak about what matters most to them through spoken word poetry, from feature shows to open mic sessions.

Public Lectures

Hear My Voice frequently hosts public lectures centered around spoken word, poetry, social justice and the marriage of arts and academics among other arts related topics. These lectures are conducted by highly esteemed practitioners within the arts, culture and literature industries locally and internationally.

Festivals

Hear My Voice works with various arts and literature festivals to curate poetry segments in their programmes. These include the South African Book Fair and the Vavasati International Women's Festival. We also curate The Tshwane Speak Out Loud Youth Poetry Competition and Festival, The most rewarding poetry Slam festival in Africa, awarding over R50 000 in cash and international touring oppertunities to participants.
